Black Friday event offers great savings on a summer camp or course for 2011 and a free Apple gift
San Jose, Calif. – November 23, 2010 – Digital Media Academy has pulled back the curtain on its Black Friday Event. The Thanksgiving weekend event which runs from Friday, November 26 to Midnight, November 28, 2010 gives students and campers who register for a course or camp $100 discount off any course and a free Apple gift valued at $150.
“This is a great opportunity for people who are interested in or considering a Summer Camp for 2011, or expanding their digital education. The Black Friday Event works like this: In addition to the $100 course savings which students get for any course, when students register during the Black Friday Event, the first 25 to register will receive a free Apple gift valued at $150 dollars. Students may choose between a iPod nano, a Flip video camera or $150 iTunes gift card. Those students that register after those first 25, during the event, will receive a $50 iTunes gift card.
Finally, as the event is only three days and only the first 25 registrations during the event get the $150 Apple gift of their choice, students, parents and adults looking to extend their education or get certification are encouraged to sign up now for a 2011 class or camp.

Those unfamiliar with the concept often ask what it is that qualifies a piece of furniture as a theater seat. The obvious answer is the inclusion of a cup holder, but that is an oversimplification that many low-quality furniture makers exploit to take advantage of the unsophisticated consumer. Adding a cup holder to a cheap, poorly built recliner does not result in an acceptable piece of theater-style furniture any more than adding a steering wheel to a bicycle makes it an automobile. In a home theater environment, it is common to sit relatively motionless for several hours at a time, and your furniture needs to be built to that standard. Not only must the seat and back be comfortable for a prolonged period of time, it also needs to be built well enough to not suffer premature wear in the seat and armrests.
Home theater seating is typically overstuffed and heavily built. Single home theater seats are usually denoted by extra-wide armrests, which allow guests to sit at a comfortable distance from each other. Although sofa models are available, the most common arrangement is two to four single seats arranged together in a slightly concave fashion, rather than a straight line. Then, of course, there is the matter of the cup holders. Cup holders should be molded into each armrest and should ideally be large enough to accommodate your biggest beverage glass.
Single seats should offer the feature to recline, but some attention to detail is necessary here. Unlike traditional recliners, it is often not possible to place the operating lever at the side of the arm, so it is important that you choose a model that operates comfortably and glides easily by use of your legs alone.
It is a good idea to bring the kids along to the showroom, since children’s shorter legs and torsos will have the most difficulty operating the mechanism. The angle of recline is also an issue. Standard recliners usually convert so far back that you end up facing the ceiling. A purpose-built home theater recliner should provide a comfortable angle to the back while leaving your head facing the screen without developing an uncomfortable kink in the neck.

There are numerous advantages to this type of arrangement, especially if the theater room doubles as a rec room or game room. In this case, the projection screen can be rolled up out of the way when the television or video player is not in use. Not only does this free up wall space, which is always at a premium in the case of a game room, but it keeps the screen safe from damage when kids are roughhousing. Combined with a ceiling-mounted video projector, this system creates the maximum amount of free floor space as well as room on the wall.
These screens are available in a wide range of price points, depending on the quality and size. Prices can start as low as $50 and go well into four digits for a super-large, professionally installed unit. Sizes begin at around 60 inches in width and can reach over 300 inches to accommodate an extremely large room. Most screens are sized to accommodate the new high-definition 16:9 rectangular aspect ratio. If you expect to occasionally show old 4:3 format videos, keep in mind that the squarer image will need to be sized down to fit the height of the screen, resulting in a correspondingly smaller overall picture.
The projector screen material will vary somewhat depending on the overall price and quality of the unit. Screens that are more expensive will feature heavier, more durable material that is less prone to deform when a slight breeze blows over it. Regardless of price, the display side of the screen should be made of a silver or white material with a matte finish. Never select a screen made of glossy material, as the extreme reflectivity of the surface will create hot spots that detract from the viewing experience.
If you would like a professional-grade home theater experience without the moving screen, you might consider mounting a permanent fixed screen on the wall. A perfectly flat and defect-free wall surface could simply be painted with an appropriate semi-gloss paint, or screen material could be purchased at a fabric store and attached with contact cement. If your wall has severe imperfections, a screen could be stretches across a raised frame and screwed into place. Finish the instillation off with a black cloth mask and a curtain on either side for the ultimate theater experience.
Rumors have been swirling over the Internet in the past month since a leaked viral video from the Sony Playstation’s marketing team hit the mainstream. In this video, a hand held video camera allows first person access to a research department on full crises mode; ending with a team attempting to a control a catatonic gamer clutching a controller in front of a screen bearing a Playstation logo. A second video, dubbed the official teaser trailer, shows a subject putting on glasses and headphones, creating a complete 3D environment to play the popular Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare game. The experience is so intense that he rips off the headphones and glasses, only to slowly break into a massive smile. Both movies fade out with a Playstation 4 logo.
While Sony has yet to give an official announcement regarding either the trailers or development of any Playstation 4 release — though it is likely they will do so in the upcoming E3 video games expo — the success of previous Playstation games has been so high that it is all but a moot point. Indeed, before the Nintendo Wii broke every sales record in history following its release in 2007, Sony held a larger market share than rivals Nintendo and Microsoft XBOX put together. A commercial from nearly a decade ago advertised the Playstation 2 with a faux advertisement for the “Playstation 7″ in a tech savvy futuristic setting, with the tag line “yet to come.” As well as this current generation of gaming has been doing for every company involved, there is no doubt that the eighth generation of consoles from Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft are being furiously planned and scrutinized.
As rumors about the PS4 make their way through the gaming world, many analysts wonder if it is not a hoax designed to stir up interest in the current Playstation line of games. The time has never been better to have the current top of the line Playstation 3 system, as the Playstation Network for online gaming has finally caught up to XBOX Live subscriptions. Sony’s online system is free and some say less buggy than Microsoft’s, while Nintendo’s online capacity is so poorly structured that few gamers bother to use it. Furthermore, the motion capture systems that both Sony and Microsoft have hustled to develop (entirely in order to capitalize on the Wii’s staggering success with motion capture) will be released this fall.
Therefore, the timing for the PS4 is suspect, and nearly all discussion on it is pure speculation. The only thing that seems to be guaranteed is that it will have 3D capacity. Some say the console could be released as quickly as winter of 2011 to catch Nintendo and Microsoft by surprise; others say the release would take another three years at least. It does seem certain, however, that Sony would launch their new flagship with a new God of War title, as the franchise is as synonymous to Playstation as Mario is to Nintendo or Halo is to XBOX. Until then, however, gamers will be kept in the dark to lick their chops.
